Merry Christmas 2009!!

Let me start this off by saying Merry Christmas everyone! We are having a really wonderful Christmas this year (it's noon as I type this). The kids are at such fun ages that Christmas is truly magical. It is so fun to experience Christmas through a child's eyes. Lainey loved it and as you will soon see, Ethan is too!!

Every year on X-mas eve we open one present which is our pj's. Andy and I find each other funny ones each year..He definitely won this year on picking mine! Ethan got some AWESOME G.I. Joe ones from Grammy Barb and Andy got some of his favorite beverage of choice :).

Here are the boys being tough guys:

The pattern on mine really isn't that bad, but the shirt is straight out of some Grandma/pregnant woman's closet! Notice the lovely yarn balls?!!

This is what Santa left for the kids:
Ethan got a Nintendo D.S. and hasn't put it down all morning. As I type this Ethan is sitting down next to his dad playing his game while Andy plays his on the X-box. I will have to see if I can peel them away at some point today to get them showered!

Some fun fruits and veggies for Lainey to cut up:

Thank you everyone for all the great gifts! Grammy Barb's gift for Lainey is still in route, as well as Grandpa Bryan and Grandma Trish's package. We will post those photos in a few days once we receive them.

Ethan got so much stuff this year that I had to break it down into 2 photos! He is one very happy boy!!

Grandpa J and Grandma Reading got this DARLING Lady bug tent for our DARLING Lainey Bug!

Can you feel the love?!!

Lainey got to open her pj's early since she goes down before us so we didn't manage to get a picture until this morning. Aren't those so funny?!

Ethan made us some WONDERFUL gifts this year. I am so excited to have ANOTHER pinch pot!

Here are my gifts, minus a pair of flip flops..Lainey apparently thinks they are hers and wouldn't give them back to me. Thank you all so much for my gifts, I love them all!

Here is Andy's loot: Thanks to all our parents and grandparents for all the moula, we are going to get to do some fun family things with it!

Here is Ethan chillin on his skateboard playing the D.S.

Lainey is all about the pez. I think she must have eaten about 6 packages this morning. I looked over one time and saw that she didn't even bother taking them out of the paper and was just eating them like that. I guess a little fiber can't hurt!

Mio is so happy. Santa brought her a bone last night and she got that huge one this morning. Thanks for the doggy treats Grandpa J and Grandma Reading, she loves them.
How freaking cute is this?!! Grammy Barb sent this for her. Thanks so much!

Mio is tired from all the excitement!

We love and miss you all. We hope that you have a very Merry Christmas! Much love,
Annie
Andy
Ethan
and Lainey

Pictures with Santa...

Lainey wasn't so sure that she wanted to meet Santa:

It's a super cute pic of Ethan...Lainey wouldn't take her hands from her mouth. She was a bit hesitant about the whole ordeal. At least we didn't have screams though!

Lainey video

Lainey always wants me to take a picture of her and then show it to her. I decided it would be fun to do a video instead and this is what I got!

These are breakers along the coast. They are pretty prevalent here in Okinawa. I think they look like huge Jacks.

Ethan post...(oh and Christmas lights!)

All the first graders were assigned an animal to give a report on. Ethan chose to do his on Elephants. It was really fun getting to see how grown up he is and he did a GREAT job telling his classmates all about them. Andy was able to come home from work and hang out while Lainey took her nap so I was able to go and watch Ethan all by myself giving him my full attention. It was great!

Ethan participated in the Taiko Club this semester. He LOVED it. We bought him his own little bachi drum (that you see in the pictures) for a nice souvenir for his time spent here. He did such a great job at his performance. We also bought the cd with all of the songs so he could practice when he was at home. Boy did he practice!! If I never hear those songs again, that would certainly be fine with me!

His teacher:

Ethan waiting patiently for the performance to begin:
*Oh and a side note, I ordered him a youth medium thinking that surely it would fit..oops, should have ordered a small!!!

He had a super tall boy in front of him (all of the grades could participate in the club) so it sucked when he was performing because I had to try to get past the older kid to get a decent shot.

It finally stopped raining long enough for us to take a picture of our outside decorations:

Here is a clip from his Taiko performance: Sorry the quality is so crappy, the camera doesn't zoom in very well.

Christmas Decorations!

Here are some pics of our Christmas decorations this year. I can't wait until we get to Hawaii and I can unpack all of our decorations that have been in storage going on 4 years now. We do have a few though :).

Here is our christmas tree this year. We finally broke down and bought a fake one because we figured that it is probably as hard to find a real tree on Hawaii as it has been here on Okinawa.

In this first picture the angle of the camera makes it look like there is a big gap 3/4 of the way down...it really isn't like that unless you are on the ground looking at it!

See?!

Here are our little friends that we bring out at Christmas time:

Our stockings: Ethan's still needs a photo in it..oops!

A few decorations:

Thanks Grammy Barb for the Woodstock and Snoopy!

I love my little tree. I know it is supposed to be used for baked goods or appetizers and what not, but mine is used for storing fruit!

Ethan's tree that he decorated ALL BY HIMSELF!

I can't post a pic of our outside lights because it is raining really hard out now, but I will get some and post them when I get a chance.
